About the game
Pack your bags and grab your passport, because in Ticket to Ride: Rails & Sails, the adventure isn't limited to a single country. Here, the classic series formula goes global, allowing you to connect cities across different continents using not just trains, but ships as well. The basic dynamic is familiar: collect colored cards to claim routes and complete your destination tickets. But hold on, there are some fresh twists!

Now there are two distinct decks: one for trains and one for ships. This means you'll need to manage your hand carefully, as maritime routes require ship cards (and some of these cards can cover up to two spaces!). Additionally, you choose your own mix of train and ship tokens at the start of the game—do you want more trains or more ships? The choice is yours, but remember that swapping tokens during the game costs you precious points.

The game also introduces Harbors. By connecting your network to a port city, you can spend specific cards to install a harbor, which can yield massive bonus points at the end, depending on how many of your completed tickets pass through that city. For those who love variety, the board is double-sided: one side features the entire world for exploration, while the other focuses on the Great Lakes of North America, with slightly adjusted rules for each scenario.

Whether you're attempting to complete complex tour routes (which score more if you follow the exact path) or blocking an opponent in a distant ocean, Rails & Sails ramps up the tension of the series. It's the perfect blend of easy-to-learn mechanics and the strategic depth of managing two types of transport simultaneously. It's time to set sail and conquer the globe!

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it much harder than the original Ticket to Ride?
Slightly, due to the two decks and harbors, but anyone who has played any TtR will pick it up in 5 minutes.
How many people can play?
2 to 5 players. It works well at all counts, but with 5, the fight for space becomes much more intense.
How long does a game take?
Between 60 and 120 minutes. The global map tends to take longer than the Great Lakes map.
Do I need another game from the series to play this?
No! It is a complete, stand-alone game.
What's the difference between the two maps?
Besides the theme, the starting amount of cards and tokens changes, slightly altering the strategy and pace of the game.
