About the game
What you do in a play session
Ticket to Ride: San Francisco delivers the classic Ticket to Ride loop – draw cards, claim routes, fulfill tickets – on a 1960s San Francisco map that wraps a game up in fifteen minutes or less. Each player starts with 20 cable cars, two transport cards in hand, and one or two destination tickets pointing to iconic spots such as Lombard Street, the Embarcadero, or the Golden Gate Bridge. On a turn you may draw two cards from the deck or from the five face‑up options (including a ferry that counts as any colour), claim a route by discarding the matching set of cards, or pull two new tickets and keep at least one. When a line you build touches a souvenir location you take that token, and completing the full set of seven souvenirs nets a 12‑point bonus. The game ends when a player has two or fewer cable cars left; everyone then gets one final turn, including the player who triggered the end. Final scoring adds points for claimed routes, completed tickets, and collected souvenirs, while unfulfilled tickets subtract points. Hand management and open drafting give plenty of strategic depth, and the souvenir set‑collection adds a fun “treasure‑hunt” flavor. Its speed, low learning curve, and vivid components make it ideal for quick family or friend sessions without sacrificing the thrill of building a city’s rail network.
