About the game
What you do in a play session
TOKYO TSUKIJI MARKET puts you in charge of a fishing company operating out of bustling Tokyo. Each round starts with buying fishing licences – your ticket to cast nets in the surrounding waters. You then take fishing actions, catch fish and set a sale price for your haul. The price is yours to choose, but other players may purchase your lot whenever they wish, so supply and demand shift constantly. The core of the game is a player‑driven economy with central markets that hold limited resources and unique trading rules. Only a fraction of the available markets are used each play, ensuring endless replayability. There are two currencies: traditional yen and resource points, which are equivalent to yen except at game end – the player with the most resources receives a yen bonus from the bank, while the player with the fewest pays a penalty. This creates a race to optimise both catch and sales, balancing risk and profit. The game supports 2‑6 players, lasts 45‑160 minutes (quick rounds to full‑market sessions), and carries a medium complexity (weight 3.66/5). Quality components include modular market boards, fish tokens, licence cards and yen money. The experience blends economic strategy, commodity speculation and heavy negotiation, perfect for fans of auction, trading and nautical themes. If you love building a mercantile empire while smelling the sea breeze, TOKYO TSUKIJI MARKET will definitely hook you.
