About the game
What you do in a play session
Ever felt the urge to drop everything and explore the great outdoors? That's the exact vibe of Trailblazers! In this game, you take on the role of a fearless adventurer looking to leave their mark on the wilderness, whether by biking, hiking, or kayaking. The goal is straightforward yet tricky: build closed loops that start and end at campsites of the matching trail type. If you build a stunning trail but can't find your way back to base, you won't score. That's just how nature works!
The gameplay revolves around a closed drafting system. Each round, you're dealt eight cards, pick two to build your path, and pass the rest to the next player. The interesting part is that you can place cards adjacent to or even overlapping others, creating layers of trails. But be careful: the more elaborate your route, the higher the risk. It's a classic 'push your luck' scenario where you decide whether to risk a massive circuit for big points or play it safe with smaller loops.
Beyond closing loops, you'll also compete for 'First To' goal cards, rewarding the fastest to hit certain milestones, and end-game bonuses. The game is snappy, lasting about 30 minutes over four rounds. For those who love variety, the standard edition includes extra cards to support up to 8 players, plus two expansions (Animals and Adventurers) that add new strategic layers and objectives. And if you're on your own, no worries: there are three different solo modes to test your cartography skills. It's a spatial puzzle with a pinch of adrenaline, perfect for those who enjoy route planning and watching their map grow on the table.
