About the game

What you do in a play session

Alright folks, grab your hiking boots and a warm jacket, because Tranquility: The Ascent is here to take you on a cooperative climb! This gem is a standalone sequel to the original Tranquility, and the mission is crystal clear: build a pyramid of numbered cards to reach the mountain's summit. Starting with a wide base of nine cards, you and your friends will ascend, row by row, until you place the summit card. But hey, you can't just play numbers anywhere! Each card has a terrain type, and you can't place identical terrains next to each other. Oh, and there's more: when you play a card next to another, you must discard the difference between them. It's like a numerical puzzle with a dash of strategy and a whole lot of communication (or lack thereof!). Rows can ascend, descend, or stay the same, but always respecting the order and the minimum number for the row. If you can't make a move, the mountain defeats you, and everyone loses. To add some extra spice, the game comes with three mini-expansions you can use separately or together: 'The Green Path' to create a continuous trail, 'The Panorama' to capture specific sequences, and 'The Mountain Goats' to guide the herd to the top. It's a quick game, with sessions lasting 15 to 30 minutes, perfect for those who enjoy a light cooperative challenge with a nice visual appeal.
