About the game
What you do in a play session
In "Tribune" you play as an ambitious patrician family aiming for the highest office in ancient Rome: the tribune. The game blends worker placement and set collection, delivering a session packed with strategic choices and political rivalries. Each round, players place their followers on board spots to draw cards, achieve objectives, and attempt to dominate factions. To control a faction you must play a set of at least two cards from that group; you keep control until an opponent plays a larger set or one with a higher total value. Control grants benefits that can speed your path to power.
Victory depends on the condition card selected at setup (scaled to player count). When a player fulfills the required number of objectives, they win. A point‑based variant ends when someone reaches a preset number of faction markers, and the player with the most points from various achievements claims victory.
The box contains the base game "Tribune: Primus Inter Pares" plus the expansion, adding new cards, factions, and mechanics that deepen the strategy. Auction, hand management, and open drafting keep the tempo lively, while the political theme of ancient Rome creates an immersive atmosphere. For 2‑6 players, a game lasts about 60 minutes and carries a moderate complexity of roughly 3/5, perfect for those who enjoy tactical decisions without drowning in rules. "Tribune" serves as an excellent entry point for fans of power‑building games and also satisfies veterans who like the mix of worker placement and card collection.
