About the game

What you do in a play session

If you love the tension of a battlefield but don't want to spend three days reading a 100-page manual, Undaunted: North Africa is your spot. Moving away from Normandy, we dive into the scorching heat of North Africa during World War II. On one side, we have the British Long Range Desert Group, operating stealthily behind enemy lines; on the other, the robust Italian forces attempting to halt the Allied advance.

The core of the game is a clever blend of deck-building and tactical combat. You aren't just moving pieces on a hex map; you're managing your command deck to decide who attacks, who advances, and who defends. The cruel part? Casualties are permanent. When a soldier is wounded, they leave your deck, meaning you lose that tactical capability for the rest of the mission. This forces you to adapt constantly: if you lose your best sharpshooters, how will you hold the line now?

The game features a variety of missions that provide the feel of a real campaign, and the introduction of vehicles adds a crucial mobility dynamic to dominate the terrain. It's a game of cat and mouse where initiative is everything. Whoever can dictate the pace of the battle and use vehicle mobility to flank the opponent usually comes out on top. With a modular board that changes every game, the strategy never gets repetitive. It's the perfect dose of military simulation paired with the agility of a modern card game.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you buy

6 questions
Is it too complex for someone who doesn't play wargames?
Not at all! It's much more accessible than traditional wargames. If you've played any deck-builder, you'll pick up the logic quickly.
How long does a game take?
Usually between 45 and 60 minutes, which is quite fast for the genre.
Can I play it solo?
The base game is focused on 2 players, but there are expansions that add a solo mode.
Is there a language barrier?
Yes, there is language dependency on the cards. If you don't speak English, you'll need community translations.
What's in the box?
You get 88 cards, 22 map tiles, 4 D10 dice, tokens, and the rule and campaign booklets.
Is it better than Undaunted: Normandy?
Depends on your taste, but North Africa introduces vehicles, adding a layer of mobility that wasn't in the first one.
