Game Objective
In Unmatched Adventures: Tales to Amaze, players take on the role of heroes who must work together to defeat a game-controlled villain. The objective is to reduce the villain's health to zero before they complete their objectives four times or defeat all player combatants. The game is cooperative, requiring strategy and coordination among participants.
Setup
To set up the game, follow these steps:
- Choose a villain (Mothman or Martian Invader) and position the board with the corresponding side face up.
- Place the threat marker on the first space of the threat track.
- Shuffle the villain's action deck and adjust their health points according to the number of players (110 per player).
- Position the villain's miniature on starting space 5.
- Choose a number of sidekicks equal to the number of players and prepare each by shuffling their action deck and adjusting their health points.
- Each player chooses a hero, positions them on an empty starting space, and prepares them following the basic Unmatched rules.
- Shuffle the initiative cards to create the initiative deck and position the bridge and invasion tokens as indicated.

Gameplay Flow
The game is played in rounds, with players and enemies taking turns following the initiative deck. At the start of each round, advance the threat marker by 1 space. Reveal the top card of the initiative deck and follow the indicated effects. Players and enemies perform their actions according to the order of the initiative cards. At the end of the round, resolve end-of-round effects and shuffle the initiative deck to begin a new round.
Actions and How to Play
During their turn, each player can perform two actions from Maneuver, Scheme, and Attack. When attacking an enemy, play an attack card face down, and the enemy will defend with the top card of their deck. Resolve combat normally, applying damage and effects as indicated on the cards. Enemies attempt to attack once per turn, moving to reach the closest target.
Refer to the manual for details on this section.
End of Game and Scoring
The game ends when players defeat the villain, reducing their health to zero, or when the villain completes their objectives four times or defeats all player combatants. Players win only if they manage to defeat the villain before they achieve their victory conditions.
Tips for Winning
- Coordinate your actions: As the game is cooperative, plan your actions with other players to maximize efficiency.
- Focus on the villain: Prioritize attacking the villain, but don't ignore the sidekicks, as they can cause problems if not controlled.
- Use bridges strategically: Activating bridges can provide significant advantages, such as healing combatants or moving enemies.
