About the game

What you do in a play session

Way of the Panda puts you in control of three distinct figures – a monk, a merchant and a warrior – who vie for dominance over a board split into streets and districts. Each round, players spend action points to place their workers on action spaces, choosing between moving around the board, erecting buildings, training combat skills or gathering wisdom. The stronger the action, the higher the cost, and unlike some worker‑placement games there’s no back‑tracking: once a space is taken you’re locked in. Wisdom acts as a multiplier for victory points at game end, making it a strategic investment. Meanwhile, characters train and battle villains scattered across the streets, earning experience and extra points. Building construction pursues a strategic goal: linking the north edge to the south edge of the map with your own streets, which yields scoring bonuses. Detailed miniatures bring the anthropomorphic pandas to life, reinforcing the charm of this fantasy setting. The game blends careful resource planning, path selection and a dash of combat, all within a 60‑90 minute playtime for 2‑4 players. The learning curve is moderate; the worker‑placement core is easy to grasp, making Way of the Panda a friendly entry point for newcomers while still offering enough depth for veterans who love to squeeze every action point.
