About the game
What you do in a play session
Werewords Deluxe Edition blends the rush of deduction games with the party vibe of a word‑guessing experience. At the start of each round, players receive secret roles: villagers, the Seer, the Mayor, werewolves and a handful of special roles that change each game. The Seer knows the magic word and must guide the villagers using only yes/no questions, while staying hidden. Meanwhile, the werewolves also know the word and try to mislead the group, steering questions toward wrong answers. If time runs out without a correct guess, the game moves to a voting phase where everyone points out who they think the werewolf is. If the word is guessed, the werewolf gets a chance to win by identifying the Seer.
The Deluxe edition’s free iOS/Android app supplies thousands of words across hundreds of categories and difficulty levels, ensuring fresh rounds every time. The new Speedwords mode shortens response time for an even more frantic feel, and the box includes fresh artwork, physical components (board, paper cards, tokens) and supports 2 to 20 players—perfect for parties, family gatherings, or quick filler sessions. While a decent grasp of the language helps with word comprehension, the mechanics are simple enough for newcomers to a werewolf‑style game. Its low weight (1.3/5) and short 10‑minute playtime make it an excellent bridge between heavier titles, though reliance on the app can be a drawback in low‑tech settings.
