About the game
What you do in a play session
In Obscurio, a band of adventurers must flee the sorcerer's library before he catches them. One player takes on the role of the Grimoire, holding a deck of richly illustrated cards. The Grimoire discreetly points to a detail on a card and signals that this element lies on the correct path. The other players, unable to see the cards, must interpret the clue, move across a modular board, and select the tile that matches the hint. Each round introduces new traps—"illusion" cards that, if chosen, delay the team or steer them off course. Yet cooperation isn’t absolute: hidden among the adventurers is a traitor whose goal is to confuse the group and guide them down wrong routes. The traitor can secretly suggest false clues or vote against the correct choice during voting phases. Communication is limited by rules that restrict what the Grimoire may say, forcing players to read between the lines and trust their instincts. The game blends image‑based clue giving, hidden roles, and voting, creating constant tension. A playthrough lasts about 40 minutes, supports 2‑8 players, and has a light weight (1.9/5), making it perfect for family gatherings or party nights. Components are visually striking: detailed art cards, a modular room board, clue markers, and traitor tokens. Minimal text ensures quick learning. Obscurio offers a unique cooperative deduction experience spiced with the thrill of uncovering the saboteur, all while admiring enchanting illustrations.
