About the game
What you do in a play session
Whot! is a British classic from 1935 that arrived in Brazil with a Sonic The Hedgehog themed edition. The deck features five symbols – stars, circles, squares, crosses and triangles – each in its own colour (blue, yellow, purple, red and green). The goal is straightforward: be the first to get rid of all your cards. To do that you must match the top card of the discard pile by symbol or by number, much like Uno or Mau‑Mau. If you have a red 7, you can play it on any 7 regardless of colour, or place a star on another star even if the numbers differ. The number‑20 card, called WHOT!, acts as a wildcard: when you play it you choose the next symbol that must be followed, turning the flow of the game at any moment. Star cards count double when tallying penalty points if someone still holds cards after someone goes out. Each round lasts about ten minutes and the game supports 2‑6 players, making it perfect for parties, family gatherings or a quick match among friends. With a low complexity (weight 1.2/5) and easy rules, it’s great for kids and newcomers to card games. The Sonic version adds illustrations of the video‑game heroes, but the core mechanics stay true to the original, delivering the same fast‑paced, chaotic fun that made Whot! popular in the UK during the 1950s and 60s.
