About the game
What you do in a play session
Wild Gardens puts you in the shoes of an adventurous forager, scouting various locations for wild ingredients to craft dishes worthy of discerning guests. The game spans three rounds; each round a new location card is revealed, opening distinct zones on the track board where you move your forager token. With a limited pool of action points, you decide how to spend your turn: gather ingredients, upgrade skills, purchase kitchen tools, or invite visitors to taste your recipes. Recipe cards act as scoring objectives – complete them with the right ingredients to earn points and sometimes special abilities that smooth future turns. Guests have specific food preferences; feeding them correctly yields extra points or end‑game bonuses. The game blends deck, bag and pool building (you assemble your own set of ingredient and tool cards), open drafting (choose from a common pool), and action retrieval (some cards return spent action points). Random events can shift weather or open new opportunities, while delayed purchase lets you reserve items for later rounds. After the third round, end‑game bonuses such as community goals or scenario achievements are applied, and the player with the most points wins. Track movement and variable set‑up ensure each playthrough feels fresh, and the solo mode provides a solid single‑player challenge. With a light weight (2.7/5) and a playtime of 90‑120 minutes, Wild Gardens appeals to both resource‑management fans and those who love nature‑ and cooking‑themed games.
