About the game
What you do in a play session
Winner's Circle brings the thrill of horse racing to the tabletop, but with a breezier, more strategic twist. Each match consists of three races, and before every lap players place bets on one of seven horses, each with its own speed profile yet all capable of a surprise sprint. The die bears four symbols that also appear on the horse cards; after rolling, you pick a horse that hasn't moved this turn and advance the indicated number of spaces. The track is an oval of 18 spaces, and horses cannot share a space – if your chosen spot is occupied, the horse slides back to the nearest empty space, opening up tactical blocking or “escape horse” opportunities.
Mid‑race, a bonus chip sits on space 18: the first horse to pass it earns a pace token that boosts its payout if it finishes in the top three. Bets are placed before each race using chips worth 2, 1, 1, and optionally a “0” chip for bluffing. The goal is to amass more money than opponents after three races. This edition updates the art, improves component quality, and streamlines rules compared to the original Turf Horse Racing – fewer races (3 instead of 4), an oval track rather than a straight line, and staggered starting positions. Optional variants let you bet secretly or add a penalty for the last‑place horse. In short, Winner's Circle blends luck, blocking tactics, and betting adrenaline in a 45‑60 minute game for 2‑6 players.
