About the game

What you do in a play session

Yedo: Deluxe Master Set revives the classic strategy game set in feudal Japan, now with upgraded artwork and truly deluxe components. The game unfolds in 1605, when Hidetada Tokugawa becomes shogun and the city of Edo (modern Tokyo) enters its golden age. Each player assumes the role of a clan elder, striving to earn prestige by completing missions, influencing the shogun, or flaunting European luxury goods. The deluxe edition lets you tailor the experience: you can remove negative interactions or make the game harsher, tweaking rules and modular components. Two extra modules arrive: the Specialist module, adding disciples with unique powers such as ninjas that evade patrols, and the Tea House module, which introduces temporary characters that grant bonuses for the next turn. Core mechanics include Action Queue, Auction/Bidding, Hand Management, Set Collection, Worker Placement, and a solid Solo mode. The board details Edo's districts, markets, palace, and bustling port, while mission cards provide multiple paths to prestige. Players must balance resources, block rivals, and decide whether to strike directly or operate in the shadows. Playtime ranges from 60 to 90 minutes, supports 1‑5 players, and carries a moderate complexity (weight 3.2). The box weighs about 7.3 kg, reflecting the high‑quality components and the inclusion of two integrated expansions. Perfect for fans of deep thematic games with heavy interaction and plenty of customization options.
