About the game
What you do in a play session
In Zauberschwert & Drachenei, you and your fellow mages embark on a fantastic journey to defeat creatures and collect coveted power stones. Your arsenal includes spells, artifacts, and herbs, essential for overcoming the challenges that arise. Each round, you receive two units of Magical Energy, a vital resource for your actions. Then, two Adventure cards are revealed, and players must decide where to send their mages: to one of the adventures or to 'pass,' which grants an additional energy for the next round. Once all mages are allocated, the Adventure cards are resolved, and here's where things get interesting, with four types of challenges. Spells are auctioned among the mages present, and the winner can use the spell to gain more energy or victory points. Orbs simply grant energy to mages who visit them. Holy Sites reward with victory points and a random artifact. Monsters are the highlight: the monster is auctioned, and whoever wins the auction defeats it, gaining energy and/or victory points. But beware, there's an option to cooperate to defeat the monster, though the reward is smaller. After the adventures are resolved, players can trade artifacts among themselves and play the ones they have (some only work in pairs), which also grant energy or victory points. The game continues until the Adventure Card deck runs out, and the mage with the most victory points is declared the grand winner. Get ready for tense auctions and strategic decisions!
