In Zilight Pax Romana, you are thrust into 64 AD, in a Rome that, while the center of the world, is on the brink of collapse. Returning from the frontier, the city greets you with desperate glances and harrowing stories: the dead refuse to stay dead! With the city gates unlocked, survival is a constant struggle in the streets of the most powerful capital that ever existed. Will you fight only for yourself, or will you defend Rome and its citizens against the zombie hordes? The main objective is to survive for 28 days, which correspond to 28 turns. But there's a second way to become a hero: by defending Rome's famous sanctuaries. If you manage to keep them safe for 28 days, glory is yours! The game unfolds in three phases. First, each turn, you draw a card and resolve the event described on it, which could be an opponent, an NPC, an unexpected event, or an explorable location. Next, you roll dice on the supply table, deciding whether the resources are for you or for the sanctuaries, and how they will be distributed. Finally, you manage the sanctuaries, of which there are four in total. As long as they stand, your character gains unique benefits, such as free food, hit points, and stat boosts. But beware: every night, the sanctuaries are attacked, reducing their defenses and citizen population. If both reach zero, the location is lost. Combat and skill checks are resolved through dice rolls, so get ready to push your luck!
