About the game
What you do in a play session
8‑Bit Zombie Smash is a solo card‑and‑dice tile‑laying game that runs in 10‑15 minutes. You take on the role of a survivor trying to protect a neighborhood from swarms of zombies, using a variety of weapons and building safe houses. Every card you play must be placed on top of another card that shares at least one section, or you lose points—making each move feel consequential. The game also comes with nine optional parameter cards that are drawn at the start; each one adds a twist such as “only use firearms” or “no more than two cards in a single area,” keeping the challenge fresh every time you play. With only 18 action cards, nine parameter cards, and ten six‑sided dice, the components are lean, but the mechanics stack up. “Area Majority / Influence” pushes you to control the most zones on the board, while “Hand Management” forces you to decide whether to play a card now or hold it for a critical moment. “Tile Placement” comes into play when you position safe houses, shaping where zombies can spawn. The game’s retro 8‑bit aesthetic, complete with neon‑colored illustrations and the satisfying “boom” sound when you smash a zombie, gives it a nostalgic feel that pairs nicely with the tension of rolling dice. It’s not overly complex, making it perfect for players who enjoy quick, strategic solitaire games with a touch of humor. If you love zombies, thrive under pressure, and want to test your sparkling decision‑making in a few minutes, 8‑Bit Zombie Smash delivers a satisfying victory as you see the last area cleared of undead.
