About the game
What you do in a play session
Forget about the Atreides for a moment. In Arrakis: Dawn of the Fremen, we go back hundreds of generations to experience the brutal and visceral era of the Fremen tribes. Here, survival is never guaranteed, and diplomacy is merely a break between fights. You take command of a tribe of warriors struggling to dominate the relentless desert, fighting for scarce resources and building Sietches—those secret refuges essential for not being cooked alive under the sun.
The experience is split into well-defined stages. It all starts with the Harj, a strategic positioning phase that determines who enters the fray with an advantage. Then, we have the Initiation Cycle, which acts as a 'warm-up' with a few restrictions to prevent you from being steamrolled while you learn the dynamics. From there, we enter the main Cycles, where tension escalates and phases repeat until someone dominates the desert.
The game is cruel and strategic. You'll need powerful weapons, resource management, and, of course, know how to tame and harness the power of the sandworms to crush the competition. Victory can be achieved in two ways: either by controlling the required number of Sietches at the end of the action phase, or by convincing the Council that your victory is inevitable, leading to a unanimous decision of surrender by your opponents. It's a game of influence, control, and high tension, perfect for those who love the 'who betrayed whom' vibe while trying to survive on one of the most hostile planets in science fiction. If you enjoy games where map positioning dictates the pace and player interaction is constant and aggressive, this is the one for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers before you buy
Is the game too complex?
It's considered an 'Expert' game. It has several layers, but the Initiation Cycle helps smooth the learning process.
How long does a game take?
Expect to spend between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on how fierce the fight for the Sietches is.
Do I need to read the Dune books to play?
It's not mandatory, but it helps a lot with immersion. The game explains the tribal dynamics quite well.
Is it language dependent?
Hardly. There's very little text, and most information is intuitive or easy to memorize.
Does it work well with 2 players?
Yes, it supports 2 to 4 players, though the political tension shines brighter with more people at the table.
