About the game
What you do in a play session
Assalto is a two‑player tactical duel that echoes the classic Fox & Geese game, but with a siege twist. The board is a 7×7 point grid where nine points form a fortress highlighted in a different colour. One player commands the defenders (blue marbles) who may move freely in any direction and capture by jumping over attackers, much like checkers. The other commands the assailants (red marbles) who are restricted to the red lines that point toward the fortress; they can never retreat, jump, or capture. Twenty‑four red pieces fill the remaining points, while the defender starts with two pieces inside the fortress (or anywhere, depending on the variant). The attackers win by occupying all nine fortress points; the defenders win by reducing the attackers to eight pieces or by completely blocking the fortress. If a defender remains inside the fortress when it is full, the game ends in a draw. Rules are easy to learn, yet the asymmetry creates depth: the attacker must plot advance routes without being cut off, while the defender uses total mobility to set up blocks and decisive jumps. A typical playthrough lasts about 20 minutes, making it perfect for a quick duel or an introductory strategy game for kids. Components consist only of a point grid board and two colours of marbles, keeping the spotlight on player decisions. Despite its simplicity, various starting‑position and movement rule variants add replay value.
