Aspens

Aspens is a quick-playing strategy game for two players, where you become a master of nature, harnessing the wind and sun to create the largest forest on the board. The concept is simple, but the strategic depth is surprising: you need to balance the growth of your existing trees with the expansion into new territories. At the start, each player seeds their forest near a water tile, defining their initial strategy and risk appetite. Each turn, you roll a sun die, and the cool part is that BOTH players generate trees for spaces that are tall enough to capture sunlight. Then, a wind die is rolled, indicating the directions in which you can expand your forest. The big decision is where to plant your trees: do you invest in making existing trees grow taller, making them more efficient at capturing the sun, or do you risk expanding into new spaces, following the wind, to dominate more territory? This is the core decision that will test your long-term planning versus the need for immediate control. The game continues until all spaces on the board are claimed, and the player with the most spaces under their control is crowned the grand forest champion!
