Get ready for historical chaos worthy of an epic! In Attila, the setting is 375 A.D., and the world is about to be turned upside down. With Attila's Huns pressing the borders, Germanic tribes are on the run, desperately seeking refuge within the provinces of the declining Roman Empire. Your role? You aren't Attila himself, but rather the mastermind behind the scenes, influencing which of these tribes migrate and where they settle. The goal is simple yet strategically intense: you want the tribes you support to be as successful as possible, thereby securing the greatest influence over them. To achieve this, you manage a hand of cards representing these invading tribes. On each turn, you can play a card to expand a tribe's territory on the map or reinforce your influence over it. But watch out, because the board is a powder keg! Once a province reaches five tribal markers, war breaks out. Combat is decided by the strength of the markers supplemented by cards from players' hands, and the outcome is brutal: the weakest tribe is simply eliminated from that region, bringing a forced and permanent peace. Scoring is dynamic and occurs in four stages at the end of each in-game 'century.' The more influence you hold over the winning tribes, the more points you accumulate. It is a constant balancing act: you need to expand your favorite tribes, but you also need to know when to provoke a conflict to eliminate rivals or protect your interests. It is a game of timing and territorial manipulation, where knowing when to trigger a war or hold your cards could be the difference between glory and total oblivion in the Roman Empire.
