Get ready to dive into the Baghdad of the Golden Age in "Baghdad: The City of Peace"! Here, you're not just a citizen, but a Vizier tasked with elevating your family's prestige and contributing to the flourishing of the legendary City of Peace. The game sets you in a circular movement around the city, where each stop is an opportunity: collecting scientific equipment, training new scholars, or translating ancient works. The core mechanic revolves around playing cards, but with a special twist: each card played pushes another out of your personal tableau, triggering the ability of the card that was removed. It's a dynamic cycle that demands planning and adaptation. To perform more complex actions, you'll need to form sets of icons on your cards, so keep an eye on those combinations! And don't forget about future objectives, which require a strategic look ahead. Although the game encourages collaboration for grand achievements like building the Golden Palace, the House of Wisdom, and sending ships down the Tigris, in the end, only one Vizier will be crowned the most eminent courtier. Final scoring comes from Night Characters, Artifacts, Favor, and even Shame tokens – an interesting mix of achievements and… lessons learned. Oh, and a fun fact: the retail version was canceled, so all available copies are the Deluxe edition, which already includes the "Golden Age" expansion. It's a game with hand management and a mega rondel that promises challenges for up to 4 players in about 90 to 120 minutes.
