About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready to roll up your sleeves and expand your dominion across the realm! In Barony: Royal Edition, you take on the role of an ambitious baron aiming to become the new ruler. The objective is straightforward: dominate the land and leave your opponents in the dust. Each turn, you'll choose one of six available actions to expand your territory and diminish your rivals' power. Need more knights on the board? Recruit them in cities, or get a bonus if the city is near a lake. Need to advance? Move your knights across the map, and if you encounter an enemy pawn or village, you can even steal a resource. Building is key: swap knights for villages or strongholds to secure resources. If you want to speed up the game and earn precious points, transform a village into a city. For the bolder players, the Expedition action allows you to place a knight in strategic locations on the map. And to climb the social ladder (and the game's hierarchy), discard resources to upgrade your noble title, from baron to duke. As soon as someone reaches the pinnacle of nobility, the final round is played, and the scoring begins. Whoever has the most points, considering resources, title, and cities, is the new sovereign! This special edition also includes the Sorcery expansion and unique powers for each player, ensuring every game is a fresh contest for power.
