Big Shot

Big Shot is an auction game where each round a set of colored cubes is offered for sale based on a die roll. Players have a limited pool of cash and bid to win the cubes. The highest bidder places the cubes on board areas; once an area reaches seven cubes it locks and no more cubes can be added. Control of the area goes to the player with the majority of cubes, but ties are ignored – so in a 3/3/1 split the player with a single cube actually owns the region! The game also features a loan system: each turn a player may take a loan, but the amount decreases (first $9, second $8, third $7). At game end each loan costs $10, deducted from the value of the properties the player owns. Areas have different values and some double in price if the owner also holds the region’s “doubler” tile. After the final tally – adding area values (with any doublers) and subtracting loan costs – the player with the most money wins. With 30‑minute playtime, up to four players and lightweight rules (weight 2/5), Big Shot blends bidding strategy, area control, and debt management, delivering tension without heavy complexity.
