About the game

What you do in a play session

If you enjoy an intense mental duel where every move could be your last, Bridges is your new addiction. This abstract strategy game for two players takes place on a hexagonal board, where the goal is simple but the execution is a constant puzzle: connect your pieces to form the longest bridges possible. Each turn, you get two action points. With these, you can place a new piece on the board—as long as it doesn't touch anything, neither yours nor your opponent's—or build a bridge between two of your pieces that are in a straight line. The big catch (and the danger) is that building a bridge permanently locks those pieces and all the space between them. This scores points based on the bridge's length, but it also freezes parts of the board, which can both hinder your opponent and limit your own future options. It's the kind of game that demands long-term planning, where a single misstep can cost you the victory. The game flows quickly and tensely until no more bridges can be built. In the end, the winner is whoever has claimed the most total area with their connections. If there is a tie in total area, the tie-breaker goes to whoever built the single longest bridge. It's an elegant, minimalist design that doesn't forgive mistakes, perfect for those who want to test their logical reasoning skills in fast, electrifying matches. No luck, no cards, just you, your opponent, and a board that becomes increasingly restricted and challenging. If you like games that make your brain fry in a good way, Bridges is a must-have for your two-player game collection.
