About the game

What you do in a play session

If you enjoy mental challenges that look simple but keep your brain buzzing, Blosme is your new obsession. The name, derived from Middle English for 'flower', makes perfect sense when you realize what you're trying to achieve: creating 'blooms'. This is a pure strategy duel between two players (Black and White) on a hexagonal board that can vary in size, though a 6-hex-per-side setup is the sweet spot for balance. Your goal is to form a closed loop of your colored stones that surrounds a region of the board. This loop is your 'bloom', and the more stones used to form it, the higher your score. But don't think you can just place stones anywhere! There are specific placement rules to ensure no one gets unfairly blocked against the board edges. If you have no legal move, you must pass. The game ends when both players pass consecutively. It's a game of high precision, where every placement could be the start of a victory or the mistake that opens a path for your opponent. Perfect for fans of Go or Hive who want something faster and more direct. To keep things fair, the 'pie rule' is used: the first player places one black stone, and the second player chooses which side of the board to play on.
