Step by step
Game Objective
Bugô is a game of tricks and prediction. The goal is to accurately predict how many tricks you will win in each round, avoiding accumulating negative points. After 5 rounds, the player with the fewest negative points wins.
Setup
To set up the game, follow the steps below:
- Shuffle the NUMBERS deck and the ROUND RULES deck separately.
- Place 5 Round Rule cards face down in a row, from left to right.
- In the first round, reveal the leftmost card. In subsequent rounds, discard the used card and reveal the next one in the row.
- Each player receives the number of cards defined by the Round Rule chosen by the Leader.
Game Flow
Each round consists of three phases:
- Prediction: Each player declares how many tricks they believe they will win.
- Contest: Players play their cards to compete for the tricks.
- Scoring: At the end of the round, players check if they met their predictions and record negative points.
After each round, the Leader passes to the player on the left, and a new round begins.
Actions and How to Play
Each round follows this flow:
- Prediction: The Leader reveals the Round Rule, and players receive their cards according to the rule. Then, each player declares how many tricks they believe they will win.
- Contest: The Leader starts the first trick, and players play one card at a time, clockwise. The trick is won by the player with the highest-value card.
- Scoring: At the end of the round, players check if they met their predictions. Those who fail record negative points.
End of Game and Scoring
The game ends after 5 rounds. The player with the fewest negative points wins. In case of a tie, players compete in an Extra Round with fixed rules:
- Each player receives 5 cards and declares how many tricks they believe they will win.
- The cards are played by another player, randomly and blindly.
- The negative score is the difference between the prediction and the actual number of wins.
If there is still a tie, the Extra Round is repeated until there is a winner.
Tips to Win
- Pay attention to the Round Rules, as they can change the game dynamics.
- Try to accurately predict the number of tricks you can win, avoiding negative points.
- Use strategy when playing your cards, especially the Negative Cards and Superior Cards, which can cancel each other out.
