About the game

What you do in a play session

BugÔ is a fast‑paced, humor‑filled trick‑taking game that brings Brazilian culture to the table through 1930s‑style American advertising. Designed for 3–8 players, a round lasts 15–20 minutes and the rules are easy to grasp, making it perfect for a quick party boost. The deck features cards illustrated with iconic Brazilian elements—capoeira, carnival, and more—rendered in vintage ad art, guaranteeing a smile as soon as you look at them. At the start of each round players choose between two events: Capoeira, which leans toward strategic play, or Carnival, which adds a more festive, chaotic vibe. After the event is set, everyone makes a predictive bid, guessing how many tricks they will win with their hand. This predictive‑bid mechanic creates tension because hitting your bid scores points, while missing can be costly. When tricks are played, the classic trick‑taking system runs, but with a twist: identical‑named cards cancel each other out—known as the "BUGOU!" effect—letting you sabotage opponents in an instant. The game also features a Take‑That element that lets you hinder rivals, and the turn order progresses each round, shifting who leads. Scores are recorded on a scoring pad after each hand and the game resets, keeping the flow light and dynamic. Even eliminated players stay in the game, influencing outcomes without being able to win. BugÔ blends prediction, trick‑taking, humor, and a nostalgic visual style, delivering a festive experience that appeals to both quick‑play card fans and anyone wanting a taste of Brazilian party spirit around the table.
