About the game

What you do in a play session

Caesar’s Empire is a strategy game where you, as a loyal ally of Julius Caesar, aim to expand the Roman Empire by building roads that connect Rome to new cities across the board. Each road segment you place earns a point, but the real power lies in conquering cities: upon reaching one, you take a city token and a treasure token, both worth points at the end. Treasures also form collections—if you manage to gather several of the same type, you earn bonus points, and gold has its own scoring. The game’s twist is the interaction: when building roads, you can extend routes started by other players, and when you score your route back to Rome, you might end up giving points to opponents. The game ends when all cities have been captured, and then everyone sums up the points from cities and treasures, noting that if you have more than one token of the same color, only the highest value counts. The winner is the one who brings the most glory to Rome, receiving applause and riches from Caesar himself. The average playtime ranges from 30 to 60 minutes, with 2 to 5 players, and the complexity is moderate, perfect for those who enjoy building networks, collecting, and interacting in an engaging historical setting.
