In Champions of Midgard, get ready to don the helmet of a Viking leader and dive into an epic adventure! This is a mid-weight worker placement game with a strong Viking theme and plenty of dice rolling, where you and your friends (2 to 4 players) take command of Viking clans. Your goal? To defend a beleaguered harbor town from attacks by mythical Norse creatures, such as trolls and draugr. By defeating these legendary monsters, you not only gain glory for your clan but also earn the favor of the gods, which is essential to becoming the most renowned Jarl of Midgard.
The core mechanic involves placing your workers in different spaces on the board to collect valuable resources and recruit warriors. With these resources, you can carve powerful runes, build ships for longer voyages, and, of course, ensure your followers are well-fed. Your warriors, represented by custom dice, are your primary combat force against the hordes of enemies threatening the town. You'll send them on dangerous journeys to neighboring villages or even across the vast ocean, all in pursuit of more glory and recognition. At the end of the game, whoever has accumulated the most glory will be crowned the champion of Midgard! It's an electrifying mix of strategy, dice luck, and a super immersive Viking theme.
