About the game

What you do in a play session

If you think trick-taking games are always the same old story, CMYK Tricks is here to color your table with a dose of strategic chaos! Imagine a round-based competition where the rules shift depending on which side of the chip you choose to play. The game uses double-sided chips representing the colors of the color wheel: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, Red, Green, Blue, and White. The real twist lies here: each chip has a 'CMYK' (color) side and an 'RGB' (light) side. If you play the color side, the highest value wins the trick; if you play the light side, the lowest value takes it. And it doesn't stop there! The player who leads the round decides which victory condition applies to everyone. Additionally, color relationships matter: the leading color and its neighbors outrank the rest, with Black and White acting as strategic wildcards that can influence almost anything. But winning tricks is only half the battle. The true challenge is what you do with your winnings. Throughout the game, you must build specific collections of colors to maximize your score. Sometimes, the secret isn't winning the trick, but losing in a way that still lets you collect the color you need to complete a valuable set. It's a game of constant decisions: do you want the win now, or would you rather sacrifice the round to build a bigger scoring combo later? With quick sessions lasting up to 30 minutes, it's the perfect game to kick off or wrap up a game night, bringing a layer of depth that goes far beyond its minimalist appearance. It's pure chromatic strategy!
