If you enjoy that industrial revolution vibe, where every decision can turn you into a tycoon or leave you broke, Coal Baron is your game! The name refers to the German miners' greeting 'Glück Auf,' wishing luck, and the vibe is exactly that: luck and strategy working together underground. Your goal is straightforward but tricky: send your miners to dig tunnels, extract coal in four different qualities, and most importantly, fulfill lucrative contracts.
The gameplay unfolds over three intense rounds. Each turn, you decide where to place your workers. Here's a cool twist: if you want to occupy a space already taken by an opponent, you can, but be ready to pay the price—you'll need to place additional workers to secure that spot. Besides digging, you must manage your own elevator shaft to bring the ore to the surface. There's no point in having a massive mine if you can't get the coal out! You'll need to balance exploration, transport logistics, and the constant hunt for cash to keep your operation running. It's a well-rounded resource management game where the timing of extraction and delivery makes all the difference in the race for the best contracts.
