Cooper Island drops players into an age of discovery, where each one tries to colonize and explore the island by placing landscape tiles. Those tiles generate resources that are used to build buildings with special abilities, like creating trade routes or unlocking collection bonuses. To progress, players must remove barriers that block still‑unknown areas, building bridges and paths. Meanwhile, valuable statues are erected for victory points and prestige. Ships are essential: they bring supplies from the old world and let colonists stock up on rare resources. The layering mechanic kicks in when multiple pieces are stacked in the same spot, boosting value or triggering special effects. Victory points are marked visually: little plastic ships circle the island, showing who’s advanced the furthest. Along the way, smaller islands offer surprise bonuses, such as extra resources or action cards. The game has five rounds, and whoever advances most with their ships and builds the largest resource network wins. Cooper Island has won fans who appreciate exploration games with layering and worker‑placement mechanics. The game comes with 1,200 wooden pieces, 200 landscape tiles, 50 resource cards, 20 plastic ships, and 40 workers of different colors. The print quality is excellent, with vibrant illustrations that bring the island to life. Rated 8.2 on Ludopedia and 7.5 on BGG, Cooper Island offers a playtime that ranges from 60 to 120 minutes depending on the number of players. The Solo Against Cooper expansion adds a challenging solo mode, letting individual players also explore the island. Additionally, expansion plans introduce new islands and colonization challenges. The game is ideal for those who enjoy worker‑placement mechanics, resource management, and map building, and it’s perfect for groups of 1 to 4 players.
