About the game
What you do in a play session
D-Day at Omaha Beach is a solo game that recreates the bloodiest and most heroic day of World War II, when U.S. forces landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy. Players command assault infantry, engineers, amphibious tanks, and artillery support, trying to secure a beachhead across a 9‑km stretch with 4 km inland, on a hex grid of 250 m per hex. German defenders are hidden in “Widerstandsnest” resistance points, revealed as Americans push forward, adding tension and surprise. Turn length shifts from 15 minutes in the early landing to 30 minutes after 10 a.m., reflecting the battle’s tempo. A 55‑card deck drives amphibious landing outcomes, random events, and enemy actions. Components include 352 counters, 55 cards, a 34” x 22” map, and two counter sheets. The game builds on the Operation Jubilee: Dieppe system, offering deep simulation with a focus on logistics, leadership under fire, and GI initiative. It’s perfect for fans of strategic challenges, military history, and solo play against a realistic adversary.
