In Dig Your Way Out, you step into the shoes of a prisoner determined to escape jail, and the competition is fierce! The goal is to be the first to dig your escape tunnel, accumulating the necessary tunnel points – a value that can vary depending on the number of players at the table. To achieve this, anything goes: you can craft tools from salvaged materials, buy them with cigarettes (the local currency), or, if you're feeling bolder, extort them from other inmates. After all, in prison, the ends justify the means, right?
The game challenges you to keep a close eye on what other players have in their hands. This information is crucial for knowing who you can 'borrow' a tool from or who poses a real threat to your escape. Although picking up tools and weapons is visible to everyone, there are several ways to protect yourself and disrupt others' plans. Action cards, your gang's passive abilities, and especially your background card are your trump cards. Background cards are powerful, one-shot abilities that can turn the game upside down if used at the right time, especially if you belong to the right gang for that ability. Get ready for plenty of interaction, bluffing, and strategic decisions to secure your freedom!
