About the game

What you do in a play session

Enchanted Forest is a 1981 classic that blends memory, racing and adventure in a fairy‑tale setting. Each tree in the forest hides a treasure; as you move from tree to tree you may peek at the hidden item and then must remember where each one was found. When the king asks for the location of a specific treasure, all players dash to the castle trying to be the first to deliver the correct answer. The game uses cards to represent trees and treasures, while a die or spinner determines how many spaces a player moves. "Move Through Deck" and "Roll/Spin and Move" give the movement its rhythm, and static capture lets a player block a path or hold information. The playtime is 30‑60 minutes, the complexity is low, making it perfect for families with kids 6+, yet it also appeals to adults who enjoy light memory challenges. The 1997 "Wizard of Oz" edition added minor tweaks for four players, and in 2007 Ravensburger released a Dutch version called "Efteling Sprookjesspel" set in the Efteling theme park. With a weight of 1.2/5, the game is easy to learn, has little chance of dead‑ends, and generates plenty of laughs when someone misplaces a treasure. If you like simple deduction games, love fairy‑tale themes and don’t mind a friendly race to the castle, Enchanted Forest is a solid pick.
