About the game

What you do in a play session

Four Tribes pits two hungry monarchs against each other in a medieval world ravaged by famine. Each ruler decides the only way out of the stalemate is to win the loyalty of the four northern tribes by sending supplies to the villages they inhabit. The board is divided into areas representing those villages, each ruled by an elder who can be swayed to one side. To earn an elder's vote you must deliver the exact supplies the village needs, using cards that represent different resource types. This is where hand management shines: you decide which cards to keep, discard, or play, all while trying to remember which supplies have already been delivered and which are still available. Each round players secretly choose cards, then reveal them simultaneously, creating a mini‑deduction challenge – who holds the missing piece for the village? – and a memory test, as it’s easy to mix up the needs of the four areas. Controlling the majority of an area or having the greatest influence grants you the elder’s vote. Accumulating enough votes secures the support of all four tribes and clinches the win. The game runs about 30 minutes, has a low weight (1.9/5), and features simple rules, yet the blend of memory, deduction, and area control keeps tension high. A four‑player variant lets two teams battle, but the core experience is a tight two‑player duel. Components are compact: a board of areas, supply cards, vote markers, and a few influence tokens. Its quick pace and the need to recall what’s been played make Four Tribes a solid pick for fans of light strategy games that still demand attention and a hint of bluffing.
