About the game

What you do in a play session

Framework is an abstract strategy game that blends puzzle‑like tile placement with pattern‑building in a quick‑moving flow. The game uses 120 tiles – 60 simple and 60 complex – and each player starts with 22 tokens. At the start of a round, the lead player draws and reveals a number of tiles equal to the player count plus one; then, in turn order, each participant selects a tile, with the lead player forced to take the final one. When you place a tile adjacent to at least one other tile in your display, you check whether any task on that tile is satisfied. Tasks feature 0‑3 colored frames and 0‑3 colored goals. For instance, a “green 3” task requires the tile to belong to a set of three tiles that have green frames, connected orthogonally. Goals can involve two colors, demand four tiles of the same color, or be conditional, meaning one task must be completed before another. Each time you satisfy a task you cover it with one of your tokens; the first player to cover all 22 tokens wins. Framework also offers a solo mode where you try to spread your tokens over a region that approximates a 5×5 grid, providing an optimization challenge for solo enthusiasts. Playtime is roughly 30‑45 minutes, suitable for 1‑4 players, and the game’s light complexity (weight 1.8/5) makes it perfect for a brain‑teasing session without a steep learning curve.
