About the game
What you do in a play session
France '40 is an intense wargame that pits two players against each other as they command German and Allied forces during the critical days of May 1940. The game includes two distinct scenarios: 'Sickle Cut', which simulates the German advance to the English Channel, and 'Dynamo', which recreates the British retreat to Dunkirk. Each scenario has its own map and unique challenges, but both share the same rules and components. The game is based on a hexagon grid system, with units representing divisions, brigades, and battalions. The rules emphasize the use of armor, air support, and morale, with special rules for Allied heavy tanks, DeGaulle, Rommel, and even Hitler's infamous 'Halt Order'. The time scale is one day per turn, and the map represents 4 miles per hex. If you're a fan of historical wargames and love diving into tactical details, France '40 is an immersive and challenging experience.
