About the game
What you do in a play session
Get ready to dive into the heat of the summer of 1942! The Caucasus Campaign puts you at the center of one of the most critical offensives of World War II. On one side, the German war machine, with its Panzer divisions and motorized units, is pushing to seize the vital oil of the Caucasus. On the other, the Soviet army, featuring a complex mix of regular troops, elite NKVD units, and contingents from various ethnicities whose loyalty can be questionable. It's a high-tension game where resource control and troop positioning on the map mean the difference between victory and total disaster.
The game utilizes a classic movement, combat, and exploitation system (the famous Igo-Ugo), but don't be fooled: it has received a modern upgrade inspired by Ardennes '44. This means you'll deal with elements like unit morale and determined attacks, adding a layer of depth that prevents the game from being just a predictable exchange of blows. The map features large hexes and the 5/8 counters are very easy to read, which greatly helps the flow of the game, even with the medium-high complexity the theme demands.
You can choose the tournament mode, which is a faster 6-round version perfect for a quick 2-hour session. If you want the full experience, the game extends over 14 turns, covering the period from July to November 1942, and can be finished in a single session of about 5 hours. It is the ideal game for those seeking an operational-scale wargame that is deep but doesn't require an entire weekend to complete. If you enjoy historical simulation with a touch of tactical tension, this is the game for you!
