About the game

What you do in a play session

No Retreat!: The North African Front is the second chapter in Carl Paradis' acclaimed wargame series, taking us directly into the heat of the African desert during World War II. Get ready to relive the North African campaign, from Operation Compass in 1940 to the Axis expulsion from Libya in 1942. This game, which refines the foundations of its predecessor, combines an exciting combat and maneuver system with a rich narrative that captures the ebb and flow of the war. Forget generic North African wargames! Here, you'll find five 'mini-maps' that serve as campaign stages, each with its own 'mini-battles' that are almost games in themselves. The goal is to dominate one map to advance to the next, pushing your opponent out of the game. The Deluxe Edition includes the original game with five quick scenarios, a tournament game, a full campaign, and a bonus: the 'Invasion of Crete' mini-game. The island of Malta plays a crucial role, influencing Allied or Axis operations, and Italian forces have their due importance. With few units on the field, each piece and hex becomes a tactical puzzle, reminiscent of the great classics. The Supply Point system is brilliant, allowing you to seize the initiative, replace losses, and maintain pressure, fluidly simulating the lulls and advances of battlefield operations. The desert awaits you, and the fate of World War II is in your hands. There is no retreat!

The Deluxe edition comes with one mounted main map and two smaller double-sided maps, unit counters and markers, two books (rules and scenarios), 55 event cards, and two six-sided dice.
Is the game beginner-friendly for wargames?
While it has its complexity, the 'Operation Compass' scenario is recommended as an excellent tutorial due to its low unit density, making it a good starting point.
