Get your rod and flies ready, because Freshwater Fly takes you to a fish-filled mountain stream! In this game, you're an angler aiming to catch the most and the most valuable fish to score achievement points. Each round, you'll need to keep an eye on the "hatch" (the insects the fish are eating) and choose the right fly to attract your target. The strategy involves deciding where and how to cast your line: you can cast upstream to let the current help your lure, or risk a precise cast for that perfect bite. Casting near rocks might grant you skill bonuses and even unlock new fishing techniques, but be careful not to deplete your "finesse"! The reel, which actually spins on the table, adds an extra tactical layer: how you fight the hooked fish can grant you bonuses or special actions. At its core, Freshwater Fly is about dice rolling and drafting. You pick a die from the pool and use it to perform a fishing maneuver. Higher-value dice usually mean stronger actions, but collecting low-value dice can earn you extra turns. These dice also activate bonuses and multipliers that help you solve fishing "puzzles" in creative ways. Collecting sets of fish and flies is crucial for completing personal and common goals. Winning means focusing on objectives that connect and yield the most points, without forgetting to maintain a good overall fish count. The game ends when someone catches their seventh fish, and then it's time to tally the points and declare the grand fishing champion!
