Step by step
Objective of the Game
In Hansa Teutonica: Big Box, players compete to establish dominance through trade networks. Your goal is to expand your influence by placing Traders and Merchants on Trade Routes and building Trading Posts in cities. The player who accumulates the most Prestige Points by the end of the game is the winner.
Setup
Consulte el manual para detalles sobre esta sección.
Game Flow
The game proceeds in turns, where players perform actions to expand their networks. The game continues until one of the following triggers occurs:
- A player reaches 20 Prestige Points.
- 10 cities have been completed (all available Trading Post spaces are filled).
- A player qualifies to place a new Bonus Marker, but none are left.
Actions and How to Play
On your turn, you can perform the following actions:
INCOME (RESUPPLY TRADESMEN)
Move Traders and/or Merchants from your STOCK (above your desk) to your PERSONAL SUPPLY (below your desk). The amount you can move is equal to the highest revealed Bank money bag on your desk. If the bag has a "C", you can move all of them.
PLACE TRADESMAN
Place one Trader or Merchant from your PERSONAL SUPPLY on an open Connection Point on the board. Each tradesman placed counts as 1 action.
DISPLACE OPPONENT TRADESMAN
You may use a tradesman from your PERSONAL SUPPLY to displace an opponent's tradesman on a Trade Route Connection Point.
- If you displace a TRADER, you must move 1 tradesman from your PERSONAL SUPPLY to your STOCK as payment.
- If you displace a MERCHANT, you must move 2 tradesmen from your PERSONAL SUPPLY to your STOCK as payment.
- The displaced player immediately takes their displaced tradesman plus:
- 1 tradesman from their STOCK if a TRADER was displaced.
- 2 tradesmen from their STOCK if a MERCHANT was displaced.
- These extra tradesmen are placed in open Connection Points on Trade Routes adjacent to the original route. If no space exists, move to the next connected Trade Route(s). If the player lacks enough tradesmen in their STOCK, they use their PERSONAL SUPPLY, and if still insufficient, they move tradesmen already on the board.
MOVE TRADESMEN
Move your tradesmen from any Connection Points to any open Connection Points on the board. You can also swap a Trader and a Merchant you own (this counts as 2 moves). The number of tradesmen you can move per action is equal to the highest revealed number in the Book of Knowledge on your desk.
CREATE TRADE ROUTE
If you, and only you, have tradesmen on all Connection Points in a Trade Route between two cities, you may create it. This triggers three possible events:
- Prestige Points: Each player who CONTROLS one of the connected cities scores 1 Prestige Point. If one player controls both, they score 2 points. (CONTROL means having the most Trading Posts, or the rightmost Trading Post in case of a tie). No points are scored if a city has no Trading Posts.
- Bonus Marker: You gain a Bonus Marker if one was assigned to that Trade Route.
- Choose ONE reward:
- ESTABLISH A TRADING POST: Take a tradesman from the Trade Route being created and place it into a vacant Trading Post space in one of the two connected cities. Requirements: The tradesman must match the Trading Post shape (only a Merchant for circle spaces), and you must have the necessary Privilege color.
Note: If a player completes a network of Trading Posts connecting Arnheim and Stendal, they score Prestige Points (1st: 7, 2nd: 4, 3rd: 2). If a city runs out of Trading Post spaces, move the Completed Cities counter (black cube) up one space. - DEVELOP ABILITY: If the Trade Route is connected to a city with an Ability pictogram, you may upgrade the matching Ability on your desk (always left to right). The tradesman removed from the Ability goes to your PERSONAL SUPPLY.
- CLAIM END-GAME PRESTIGE POINTS ON THE COELLEN TABLEAU: If the route is connected to Coellen, you may claim a space on the Coellen tableau using a Merchant from that Trade Route. You must have the required Privilege color.
Fim de Jogo e Pontuação
Once the end-game trigger occurs, perform the following TALLY FINAL SCORE steps:
- Abilities: 4 points for each Ability developed to the maximum (except City Keys).
- Bonus Markers: Add points based on the number of Bonus Markers collected (refer to the chart in the manual).
- Coellen Tableau: Add points from any spaces claimed on the Coellen tableau.
- City Control: 2 points for every city you CONTROL.
- City Keys: Count your Trading Posts in your largest connected group of Trading Posts (adjacent cities; CONTROL is not required). Multiply this number by the number on your highest revealed City Key.
The player with the highest total Prestige Points wins. Tied players share victory.
