About the game
What you do in a play session
Imagine you're on a trail and the goal is simple: be the first to complete a 100-mile hike. Hit the Trail turns this journey into a fast-paced and tense game where dice luck and your willingness to take risks dictate the pace. The game comes in a charming mini-backpack package, which immediately sets the adventurous mood of the experience.
The dynamics revolve around managing the cards in your hand. You play one card face up on the table and then roll three dice. The challenge is to make the sum or combination of the dice match the value of your card exactly. If you hit the mark, the card moves to your 'mile pile'. This is where the strategy kicks in: do you play low-value cards, which are easier to hit but advance you slowly, or do you risk high-value cards to make giant leaps on the trail?
But it's not all smooth sailing. There are the dreaded 'cooler cards', such as the mother bear and her cubs. If you get caught with one of these, it's a setback: you lose 10 miles of your progress. To spice up the competition, the game includes bonus rules: if the dice total matches the card, you might earn bonus rolls. Additionally, if you roll doubles or triples, you can take a card from the player to your right, messing up your opponent's strategy.
It's a light game, ideal for those looking for something quick to play with family or a large group of friends, as it supports up to 10 players. It's the perfect 'filler' game to bridge the gap between heavier sessions or to introduce people who aren't used to board games, focusing on immediate fun and constant player interaction.
