About the game

What you do in a play session

If you enjoy a atmosphere of conspiracy, political intrigue, and the constant tension of not knowing who is on your team, I, Spy is a must-play. Set in pre-WWI Europe, the game puts you in the shoes of a spy who must balance loyalty to their nation with the need to manipulate the global stage. The hook here is that to achieve your goals, you often need the help of your opponents—even if they don't realize they are being used to lead your nation to European domination.

Over the course of 14 rounds, each player gets 3 actions per turn. The range of possibilities is quite engaging: you can move around the map, acquire supplies, recruit key assets, bribe politicians, or even sabotage foreign capitals. The catch? Every action you take shifts the influence levels of the nations on the board. The constant challenge is trying to deduce which nation each opponent represents, while trying to maximize your own influence and block your rivals' progress. It is a game of deduction and bluffing where your discretion is your best weapon.

Scoring happens in specific phases, where accumulated influence turns into power points. It is not enough to be a great spy if you cannot convert your efforts into concrete results for your homeland. Your secret identity (the alignment token) is only revealed at the end of the game, ensuring that epic reveal moment when everyone discovers who was working for whom. If you like medium-weight games that require table reading, hand management, and a good dose of trickery, I, Spy offers an immersive and calculated experience. Get ready to lie, manipulate, and above all, don't let anyone discover who you really serve until the right moment.
