About the game
Imperial 2030 is the upgraded version of a classic: the original *Imperial* game gains new pieces, more neutral territory, and the chance to control the Panama and Suez canals. Instead of taking turns, the six powers – USA, Europe, Russia, China, India, and Brazil – move one after another, building factories, fleets, and armies while vying for control of neutral regions. What really sets the game apart are the investors, acting behind the scenes: each player puts money into one or more nations, and the largest investor in each country gains control of the government, deciding where the nation will invest and which policies to adopt. Because control can shift each new round, there’s no “favorite country” – the goal is to put your capital where the return is highest. The rondel mechanic dictates available actions each phase, while area movement and majority influence determine who dominates the map. Investment resources and stock holdings let you use money as a power currency, while victory points serve as a resource you can spend on strategic actions. The result is a 120‑180 minute game of medium to high complexity that blends economics, politics, and maritime strategy on a global stage. If you enjoy games that require financial planning and diplomacy, Imperial 2030 will keep you glued to the table.
