About the game

What you do in a play session

Jäger und Sammler (or Mammut, as it's known in Brazil) puts you in the role of a tribal leader in prehistoric times, managing hunters and gatherers searching for resources. The game has two distinct phases: summer and winter. In summer, you explore the board, collect food, artifacts, and — of course — hunt mammoths. Each collected tile is worth points, but strategy is key: you need to visit winter camps to ensure your tribe survives the cold season. In winter, those who didn’t prepare properly lose hunters! Movement is tactical (only 2 points per turn), and you’ll have to choose between grabbing that rare artifact or securing food for winter. Caves and paths help you navigate the map, which shrinks as players collect tiles. Pro tip: hunting the biggest mammoth in summer gives you the advantage of starting winter first!
