In a futuristic metropolis, the mayor calls on several companies to build the world’s most modern train system, and you’re one of them. Your goal? Earn the most credit by completing colorful routes, strategically placing buildings, and achieving secret objectives that require specific city configurations. Each player starts with a deck of rail cards, each featuring two lines, two terminals, and two buildings (there are five building types). The game begins as players lay cards one by one, building the rail network. Placement follows a brick‑pattern rule: if the short sides touch, the card aligns straight; if the long sides touch, it offsets. A card can have up to six neighbors, but it can never extend beyond the city limits, which grow dynamically with each play. The key is to control this expansion: the city has no fixed center, so the final shape depends on the cards each player places. Scoring comes from having segments of your color that form complete routes—either capped by terminals or forming loops. Each distinct building type on a complete route earns one credit point, and completing secret objectives can grant extra bonuses. The game runs about 20 minutes, supports 2–4 players, and blends card strategy, pattern building, and area control into a fast, accessible experience. If you enjoy building colorful networks, controlling territories, and solving secret challenges, Light Rail delivers a light yet strategic experience that can surprise both newcomers and seasoned rail game veterans.
