About the game
Lignum plunges you into the 19th‑century timber industry, where every choice can turn logs into profit. You start as a woodcutter, felling trees and secretly establishing supply routes with cards. Each claimed area yields different amounts of wood and food, so sharing a space with an opponent forces you to split resources – a perfect setup for bluffing and reading rival strategies. After the cut, the processing chain kicks in: you decide how to move the timber (raft, on foot, or sled in winter), whether to dry it or process it immediately, and when to sell. The marketplace lets you trade tools and food and recruit extra workers to boost capacity. Over eight rounds, representing two years of business, you can acquire upgrades like saws, sleds, and pastures, and fulfill orders for extra cash. The goal is straightforward – the player with the most money after the final turn wins – but achieving it demands careful planning, action‑queue management, and strategic worker placement. The game offers a solid learning curve paired with deep tactical play, perfect for fans of economic challenges and intertwined production chains.
